In 2006 the Environmental Professional Program inaugurated the
First-in-the-Nation River Restoration Professional Certificate
Training
EPP is proud to offer the PSU
River Restoration Professional Certificate Program. A cutting-edge
program that took three years to develop and is the only one
of its kind in the United States. The program is a series of 5 “core”
professional short courses and 2 electives of your
choice.
Successful river restoration
projects are designed within a watershed context and incorporate
technique, methods and processes based on the development
of theoretical frameworks for each river restoration action
category. For professionals, it is no longer
enough to be an expert in a specialized or general field or
discipline; it is also necessary to understand the collaborative
process and know how to integrate your individual practice
with the other disciplines on the restoration team.
This program provides an understanding of process and iintegration
over the life of the project.
This training program focuses
on:
Understanding the natural
processes and functions of streams
Learning state-of-the-art
best practices that enhance river function and value while
working with natural processes
Integrating your discipline
and expertise into the collaborative restoration planning
team
Integrating the regulatory,
social, and economic aspects of the project
Effectively staying in compliance,
on budget, and on schedule over the working life of the project.
Taught by prominent practicing
professionals, this university-level curriculum uses classroom
and field lectures, team planning exercises, and extensive
field work.
