Travel Expenses

If you have expensive travel arrangements, please make sure the course has not been cancelled or re-scheduled prior to paying for your ticket. PSU cannot be responsible for travel or other expenses associated with a cancellation or rescheduling.

Course Changes

In the event of a significant change in course content, instructor, or scheduling you will be notified by e-mail or phone.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

For a student to cancel their registration and receive a full refund, minus a $50 non-refundable administrative fee, PSU/EPP must receive written notice at least two weeks prior to the course. Cancellations in writing after that time, but more than a week prior to the course, will receive a 50% refund. No refunds can be provided for cancellations five working days prior to a course.

University Credit

University credit is available for some of the River Restoration Professional Certificate Courses, and many other Environmental Professional Program classes. Undergraduate credit courses are graded A ~ F or "Pass / No Pass." All graduate level credit is graded A ~ F. Grades are measured by class participation, quizzes / tests, and reports. Please call (503)-725-5388 for additional information. Non-PSU-admitted students are restricted to taking a maximum of 8 credit hours per term. If you plan to exceed 8 credit hours, or if you need more information on credit requirements, please contact our office at 503-725-5388.

Equal Access

Portland State University fully supports the right to equal access to its classes by students with disabilities, and makes every reasonable effort to ensure this access. Students with disabilities who require special accommodations should contact Disability Services for Students at 503-725-4150 as soon as possible. For more information contact the Environmental Professional Program office at 503-725-5388.

Field Requirements

If a course includes field work, attendees should bring comfortable field gear and be prepared for any weather and field conditions. "Gear" may include rubber boots, appropriate rain / sun / wind / cold / insect gear, allergy medicine, notebooks or clipboards, and a change of clothes.

Field Class Risks

Field sites may be muddy or wet; hiking may be slippery, across uneven terrain and often without trails. People with pollen or vegetation induced allergies may wish to use appropriate care and bring along personal medications. Be aware that class field work may involve digging in hydric soils, water sampling and testing, collecting by permission of the landowner, and some locations may have poison oak plants.

Inclement Weather

PSU courses, seminars, and field activities must be cancelled if Portland State University is officially closed due to weather or a crisis. To determine if the university is closed, call 503-725-3000 (PSU Info Line) or listen to the local radio. Every effort will be made to re-schedule the portion of a cancelled course as soon as possible. Please contact our office at 503-725-5388 for instructions on cancellations and make-up sessions.

International Students and Out-of-State Tuition

Unless a participant desires to take more than 8 university credits, admission to PSU is not needed to take EPP classes. International or out-of-state students pay the same class fees as resident students. We are pleased to assist with travel information. If you have questions, call 503-725-5388, or via e-mail to: envprodev@pdx.edu
